At our school there are 32 pupils on the School Council, comprising of a boy and a girl from each of the year 1 to year 6 classes.
We meet every Monday and bring ideas from our classes. Our aims are to make our great school even better! We write letters about things we really care about – toilets, cloakrooms and school dinners are always popular. Last year the cloakrooms throughout the school were re fitted and this year we hope to improve the water fountains. We make posters to advertise events, such as Sport Relief, we run stalls at the summer fete and in winter we provided hot chocolate during the football tournament. Everyone liked that!
Another important function of the school council is fund raise for our elected charity. Last year we raised over £2500 for the NSPCC with a sponsored P.E. event and this year we will be supporting the animal charity, the Blue Cross. We are looking forward to a visit soon by Barney the dog!
We are the pupil voice of The Orchard Primary School. We are loud, people listen and we really do make a difference!
